    Alexa is an independent website traffic compulation service that is described most generally as follows: Alexa computes traffic rankings by analyzing the Web usage of millions of Alexa Toolbar users and data obtained from other, diverse traffic data sources. The information is sorted, sifted, anonymized, counted, and computed, until, finally, they get the traffic rankings shown in the Alexa service.     So what does all that mean and how does it relate to my competition. In the end it means very little to actual SEO program. What you can learn however, if a website is active on Alexa, is that that the website owner is VERY interested in their traffic and is either performing some type of SEO or has hired an SEO firm and Alexa is another tool used in many SEO toolboxes. In other words, it’s just another check box in a good SEO program.
